Lisa Grimmer, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist, Certified Pilates Instructor, Certified GYROTONIC® Trainer, Personal Trainer

Dr. Lisa Grimmer, is a Physical Therapist, Certified Pilates Instructor, and Certified GYROTONIC® Trainer who combines extensive clinical experience with a passion for helping people move better, feel stronger, and stay active throughout every stage of life.

A lifelong mover, Lisa found her calling in physical therapy after being diagnosed with osteopenia in her late 20s. That experience inspired her deep commitment to strength training, bone health, and functional movement — making her own wellness journey the foundation for the compassionate care she now provides to others.

Lisa has worked in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation settings, including Inova Mt. Vernon Rehabilitation Hospital’s neurologic department, as well as the orthopedic departments at George Washington University Hospital and Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital. With more than 20 years of experience in strength training and movement education, she creates individualized treatment plans that help clients improve mobility, build confidence, and return to the activities they love.

Her approach blends evidence-based physical therapy with functional exercise, manual therapy, dry needling, Rehabilitative Pilates, and GYROTONIC® exercise. She specializes in designing movement programs that translate into real-life strength, balance, and resilience.

Lisa also holds advanced certifications in pelvic health for athletes, osteoporosis management, Pilates Comprehensive training, pre/post-natal exercise, and barefoot balance training. She co-leads Elements’ Osteoporosis Support Group alongside Justine Bernard, helping individuals safely improve bone health through education and guided movement.

Known for her compassionate and highly personalized care, Lisa works with a wide range of clients — from athletes optimizing performance to individuals recovering from injury, managing osteoporosis, improving pelvic health, or navigating orthopedic challenges as they age.

Outside the clinic, Lisa enjoys indoor rock climbing, strength training, running around town, and the occasional karaoke night.
