The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® includes the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® movement methods, both which work the entire body to open energy pathways, stimulate the nervous system, increase one’s ranges of motion, and create functional strength safely and effectively by using flowing, rhythmic sequences like those found in swimming, yoga, gymnastics, and tai chi. The benefits of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® exercises include increased strength and flexibility, renewed energy and vitality and a general sense of calm and well being.

Elements Fitness & Wellness Center is the largest and most fully equipped GYROTONIC® studio in the Washington Metropolitan area, with 10 Pulley Tower Units, plus an extensive collection of specialized equipment, including the Jump Stretch Board, Archway, GYROTONER®, and Leg Extension Unit.

The GYROTONIC® Method

What makes GYROTONIC® exercise special?  Unlike most conventional exercise machines where linear or isolated movements are performed, the GYROTONIC® Method movements emphasize multiple joint articulations without compression in circular motions. Special attention is paid to increased mobility and stability of the spine, resulting in a superior and well-proportioned body that is less prone to injury.  This work is supported by carefully designed and hand crafted machinery.

GYROTONIC® exercise is used world-wide as an effective cross-training exercise for movement enthusiasts of all walks of life, as professional conditioning by dancers, athletes, golfers, and equestrians, and in rehabilitation facilities like Elements Fitness and Wellness Center.

“Last week my husband rolled over and said, “Thank you for introducing me to Gyrotonic®exercise.” He is now pain free and enjoys going for sessions and classes.”

GYROKINESIS® Exercise

GYROKINESIS® exercises can be done on stools, mats, or on the floor making this movement method more easily accessible to all and most often offered as group classes in studios, recreation centers, and rehabilitation facilities.

During each class, the entire body is taken through seven types of spinal movement (bending forward, extending backward, side-arching left and right, twisting left and right, and moving in a circular pattern) all in a highly organized, deliberate sequence guided by breath work and the 3 key principles which you will discover in class.

Get moving with ease.

“I found Gyrokinesis® after a debilitating back injury. I did my Gyrokinesis stretches every morning and the pain disappeared. I was so convinced I became a teacher.” – Justine B
