Jenny Roberts - Certified STOTT PILATES™ Instructor

Jenny Roberts seated on Pilates equipmentJenny has been teaching movement and fitness since 1986. Beginning as a women's competitive team gymnastics coach and choreographer, she later became a Certified Group Fitness Instructor; Certified Personal Trainer; Certified TRX® Tactical Force Instructor; POSE® Method Running Coach; and Master Swim Instructor. A dancer and gymnast since age 8, Jenny spent most of her life as a competitive athlete expanding into mountain bike racing, triathlons, long-distance running, and adventure racing.

Jenny's interest in Pilates came in her late 30's when back pain sent her to physical therapy, where Pilates was part of her rehab regime. The Pilates exercises quickly helped her back feel better. Convinced Pilates was essential to her own health, in 2010 she earned STOTT PILATES Instructor Certification for Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. As she began teaching Pilates, she found her interests gravitating toward rehab clients and those with special needs such as Wounded Warriors. In 2012, Jenny earned STOTT PILATES Certification for Injuries and Special Populations.

Jenny also has a special interest in working with clients who have pelvic pain issues; something Jenny is intimately familiar with due to a genetic disorder causing scars and adhesions in her own pelvic and abdominal area. During the past 6 years, Jenny has undergone a myriad of treatment for pelvic pain and has found Pilates and GYROTONIC® exercise to be of the utmost importance in her ability to live as pain-free a lifestyle as possible.

Regardless of who she is working with, Jenny's desire is to help and teach clients to function at their best level of health and live life with vitality and hope.

Kari Boyd Gardiner - Certified Pilates Instructor & GYROTONIC® Instructor

While working on an organic farm in the Hudson Valley, NY, Kari was diagnosed with Lyme disease.  The exhaustion from her Lyme disease forced Kari to end her six year organic farming career and to return to college.  Kari graduated from Bard College with a BA in Art in 2003.  While at Bard, she also studied modern dance and found Pilates.  The feeling that her Pilates study had boosted her healing from Lyme disease, imparting both a new and deepened core as well as greater overall fitness, inspired Kari to become a Pilates instructor.  Kari was originally certified in Mat Pilates in 2003, and certified to teach on all the Pilates apparatus in 2004 through the original Power Pilates studio in New York, NY.

Observing the effects of the Gyrotonic Expansion System on her Aunt living with Parkison’s Disease prompted Kari to begin her own study of the Gyrotonic method.  In 2007, Kari completed her Gyrotonic Foundation Certification with Magali Messac at Gyrotonic Seattle. In addition, Kari completed her Gyrokinesis Foundation Course with Mia Munroe in 2010 and is a current Gyrokinesis apprentice. From September, 2004 until moving to the Washington D.C. area in 2012, Kari owned the first Pilates and Gyrotonic Studio, called Mountain Lake Holistic Movement Studio, on Orcas Island in Washington State.

Tracy Monaco Reid - GYROTONIC® Master Trainer, GYROKINESIS® and Pilates Instructor

Tracy's career in body movement and fitness began while earning a B.F.A. in dance from Western Michigan University.  Luckily, the dance department was on top their game and introduced the dance majors to the Pilates Refomer.  It was at that time, Tracy was intrigued to learn more.  After moving to NYC, working at Pilates Style Magazine, and enjoying a professional dance career she continued her training and received certifications in Pilates mat work and all the equipment.  Following certification Tracy took the exam to become a PMA (Pilates Method Alliance) certified instructor.  Not only as a professional dancer, the Pilates system proved to be a great tool in helping maintain stability, flexibility, and overall health for all walks of life.  Tracy enjoys working with a variety of clients in both the Pilates and Gyrotonic Methods.
